Dr Joseph Nyepetsi, BDS (Hons), Grad Dip Ortho, Cert Dental Implants, GCM
Dentist
Dr Joseph Nyepetsi is our dentist and the owner of Markham Street Dental.
He was born in Botswana and holds a Bachelor of Dental Surgery (honours degree) from the National University of Ireland at Cork, a Graduate Diploma of Orthodontics from James Cook University and he has completed the Master Implant Program with Brener Implant Institute in North Sydney where he passed didactic component with distinction. He also holds a Certificate in Business Management from the Australian Institute of Business in Adelaide.
Dr Nyepetsi is a member of the Australian Dental Association, Dental Protection Limited, James Cook University Alumni, and he is passionate about dentistry. His approach is very relaxed and calm, and he loves serving his patients in a comfortable, reassuring and gentle manner. He is gratified when patients take an active role in their dentistry and make good decisions about their dental health and dental care. He likes to educate patients about their oral health, including children.
When he is away from his clinic, Dr Nyepetsi loves spending time with family, going to the gym, running in the park on weekends, watching cooking shows and comedies, reading and he has a passion for studying.
Emma Jacob
Oral Health Therapist
Emma is Markham St Dental’s oral health therapist extraordinaire. With a bachelor’s degree from Charles Sturt University in Wagga Wagga and working in the dental world since 2016, Emma brings a wealth of experience and heart to the chair. She’s passionate about making dental visits positive and educational, especially for little ones who might be a bit nervous.
When she’s not polishing pearly whites or chatting about oral hygiene, Emma’s likely wrangling her three dogs—Ned the sausage dog, Ralph the energetic kelpie, and Roxy the gentle rottweiler—or sneaking away for a beach road trip. She’s also a devoted fan of The Big Bang Theory (seriously, she’s watched it over 50 times), a self-proclaimed average baker and a proud country girl who grew up on a cattle and cropping property near the Victorian border.
Whether she's helping patients conquer dental fears or simply sharing a good laugh, Emma’s warmth and care shine through in everything she does.
Mackayla Eveleigh
Dental Assistant
With a warm smile and a calming presence, Mackayla is one of the first friendly faces you'll meet at Markham Street Dental. A graduate of the University of New England, she brings both skill and heart to her role assisting Dr Joseph, helping patients feel at ease and making every visit run smoothly. Whether she’s supporting clinical care or keeping things spotless behind the scenes, Mackayla’s goal is always to make a positive impact, on her team and in her patients’ lives.
Though she’s only been in the field for a year, Mackayla’s passion for dentistry runs deep. She’s set her sights on becoming a dentist one day! When she’s not at the practice, you’ll likely find her out in nature kayaking, camping or snapping beautiful photos with her camera. And here’s a fun party trick: she’s double-jointed!
With compassion, ambition and a love for making people smile, Mackayla is a valued member of the Markham Street Dental team.
Sarah Pankhurst
Front Desk Coordinator
Sarah is the organisational wizard who keeps things running smoothly at Markham Street Dental. As the front desk coordinator, she’s your go-to for everything from booking appointments and processing health fund claims to managing payments and even pitching in with sterilisation and cleaning. With a background in criminology from UNE and on-the-job training under her belt, Sarah brings sharp problem-solving skills and a calm, friendly presence to the front desk every day. She’s been in the dental world since 2024, and she thrives on being part of a supportive, upbeat team.
When she’s off the clock, you’ll find Sarah happily immersed in her two favourite pastimes: crocheting and playing video games.
Laura Usher
Dental Assistant
Laura has been a dental assistant since 2023. In her role, Laura supports dentists during procedures, prepares and sterilises instruments, manages patient records and ensures every treatment room is ready for care. With a calm and reassuring approach, she helps patients feel comfortable and supported throughout their visit.
Trained on the job, Laura thrives in a collaborative environment and values the teamwork that keeps the practice running smoothly. What she enjoys most is making a difference in patients’ day, from helping ease their worries to seeing them leave with a brighter smile.
Laura originally studied science at university but chose a career in dentistry because she wanted meaningful, hands-on work that directly helps people. Looking ahead, she hopes to continue her professional growth by studying dental technology.
Outside of dentistry, Laura enjoys arts and crafts and runs her own balloon business, creating bespoke balloon displays for all occasions.
Tegan Wood
Front Desk Coordinator
Tegan Wood is our front desk coordinator, and she has been with Markham Street Dental since 2019. She is certified in beauty therapy, and brings along a wealth of experience in customer service and interacts very well with our clients. Tegan loves assisting patients with their dental issues, helping them look their best to improve confidence and advancing her dental health knowledge.
When she is not working, Tegan enjoys spending time with her friends and family and going for walks.
